What is Drift?

We are Drift

Drift is a Philadelphia based Indie-Rock band of best buds. We formed during our time at Drexel University, consisting of Ben Weiss on vocals/guitar, Ryan O’Grady on lead guitar, Henry Merker on bass, and Tristan Walker on drums. Ben and Ryan initially connected in the recording technology program, and shortly after, we met Matt Coakley, who played keys with us from 2015 to 2019.

In 2019, we released our debut album, ‘Reflection(s),’ through Drexel’s Mad Dragon Music Group. 

After taking a three-year break, we made a comeback with the single, “Baleen,” which we released on April 21st, 2023. A slow, ethereal song that explores feeling trapped and finding comfort within. On August 18th, 2023  we released “Need It,” an upbeat summer song that ponders the difficulties of accepting help and overcoming insecurities. “Asphalt” will be coming out on 2/23/24 and reflects upon childhood, unspoken feelings, and acceptance.
